Founded in 2006
Women owned and operated
It started with two friends and one simple idea.
In 2006, Jennifer Morellato and Elisa Lion founded Smateria with a shared belief that thoughtful design could make everyday life feel easier.
Living and working in Cambodia, they saw the opportunity to create beautifully designed bags using repurposed and recycled materials while building a business centred on craftsmanship, creativity and opportunity.
Nearly twenty years later, that philosophy still guides every decision. Every Smateria bag is designed to be practical, lightweight and made to last, because the best products are the ones people genuinely enjoy using every day.
